Resolve, trust and liking

Navasana

The following is not entirely mine. I have rephrased a short text that reflects both my mindset about the practice and, as I recall, what was passed on to me by the resilience I have sensed or seen in who has been teaching me so far.

Originally, this was a satsang on the concept of sadhana.

What is important is not the length of time, but the fact that the practices have to be continued without any interruption and until the goal is achieved, whatever time it may take. One should not lose heart, but keep doing the practice with faith.

Faith is the most important factor, for it is only through faith that we obtain the patience and energy to continue the practice against the odds of life. If practitioners have complete faith in the fact that they will surely achieve the goal through the practice, then it matters little to them when they reach the goal.

The next important point is that they should like their practice to the highest extent. Just as a mother becomes worried if her child does not return home on time, so practitioners should become worried if they don't do their daily practices. They should love their practice as much as they love their body. They should be attracted towards the practice as they are towards their favourite meal. Practices can produce the desired result only if they are done with love and attraction. There should be no feeling of compulsion, but practices should be done willingly, with earnestness, respect and devotion.

If a practitioner has these qualities, good results are assured.
