The seek for spirituality
| Utkatasana |
We
humans are not “all one” and if we were it would likely be a disaster,
considering our history and footprint. But that does not belittle the
relevance and effectiveness of individuals' quests for some forms of
spirituality in our lives.
Among those practitioners looking for
experiences that go beyond the pure physicality, for instance, there are
some who seek spirituality into yoga and others who seek it through
yoga.
I believe both positions/standings to be valid as long as
we do not make the mistake of only seeking spirituality in transcendence
and in a supposed "illumination", sterile and empty, without realizing
that true spirituality is as earthly as helping in what little way we
can someone in need, dedicating some of our precious time to a lonely
person or contributing something, anything, to a canteen so that a few
children can have at least one hot meal a day assured.
This kind
of spirituality is what truly enlightens us. It enlightens us with the
awareness that although we are not “all one”, and perhaps we will never
reach that point, all is not lost.
