Repetita iuvant
I am not likely to be a good and committed ashtangi. I found out that I am not that interested in polishing up poses or advancing in the practice sequence. My greatest interest is in repetition. Doing my practice time after time, day after day - even now that I can't.
I am sort of fascinated by repetition.
That
mesmerizing, hypnotizing reiteration of the moment, that replication
and, at the same time, constant replacement of the present, like the
steady pace and rhythm, the regular stride mile after mile, of a
long-distance runner.
In repetition is magic and madness, dullness and brightness. Our choice, if at all possible, or our nature - it depends.
Romans used to say "repetita iuvant". Maybe they were, or would have been, as bad practitioners as me.
