Going back is not a wise choice
As
much as we might like to return to a safe or pleasant time or to nice
people in our past life, just the idea of taking that trail is risky and
potentially harmful to our wellbeing.
Looking back with regret,
sorrow, or longing to a so-called "golden age" has the effect of
disrupting our forward thinking, our innermost resolve, and weaving
neural pathways and networks that will drag us down and dazzle our mind
through the idealization of something which no longer exists - and
perhaps never existed as we are imagining it.
Thus, this
(over)attachment is something we might want to avoid as much as possible
so as not to jeopardize that chain of potential futures that shapes our
constant present.
